As you may know, a few weeks ago I designed an annual report for SIFE. Well, after completing the design and emailing it away, I've managed to get my hands on a few copies of the final print.
After looking through the report, I was actually a little disappointed in the image quality of the backgrounds (which I had designed)
So, my tip for designing for print -
Always make sure that your images have a large DPI (dots per inch) so when your publication/document in printed none of the images are pixelated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixelation). It's hard to notice on a computer screen when designing so make sure you print out a prototype before mas producing!
In conclusion, I should have printed the report out myself to check before handing it to SIFE for printing. Ah well, I've learnt from my mistakes which is always an important.

SIFE Presentation Work
Labels: Notttingham Trent University, SIFE 0 commentsHere is just a quick update on what I'm up to outside of University work -
SIFE Design Team So I've been in the NTU SIFE design team for quiet a while now and we have finally been working on the first draft of the presentation they need. But before I show lots of attractive screenshots, here is a quick explanation of what SIFE actually is -
'SIFE is dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial skills of university students in a way that is both effective for them in developing their future careers and meaningful to the community.
We, as students, guided by university and business advisers, set our self up three years ago, to contribute towards the growing success of the SIFE culture. Our team develops projects which create economic opportunity for others. These projects are based on helping to increase knowledge of entrepreneurship, market economics, personal success skills, financial literacy and business ethics. Each year, we present our projects at competitions which are held in every SIFE country; the winners go on to a global competition: the SIFE World Cup.'

So here are a few screenshots of my work on the presentation.

SIFE Design Team
Labels: Notttingham Trent University, SIFE 0 comments'There is a position for a design student who has a good knowledge of multimedia and presentations. This person will work with us to develop our existing website (www.sifentu.co.uk) and produce a presentation that will be shown to a group of judges at the national competition in London in April.'
Looks interesting doesn't it! Well, this is what I've recently got involved with. I have joined a small team of 3 students, all from different areas - Multimedia, Graphic Design and Architecture, and I'm really looking forward to be working with SIFE because I will no doubt gain some good experience from it.
