Waterstone's Re-brand

Waterstone's has recently introduced their new logo this week. The first stores to display this new logo including Picadilly, Deansgate and Nottingham.

Say goodbye to the serifs and hello to the sans and some logo variations...

According to TheBookSellers.com article, HMV (Waterstone's parent company) has apparently driven the re-brand and worked with its standard branding agency, venturethree.

Some have said 'it does look rather like an upturned HMV (sorry, hmv) "m" though.' but, I'm actually liking the new change. In the way that McDonald's has grabbed the 'M,' Waterstone's are trying to big-up their 'w' to improve business.

The only thing to ask is will this help them sell more books? They now have hundreds of stores in need of new POS displays and this most defiantly won't be a cheap change!
